Things in the studio tend to get grimed up, so when I go to unscrew a bottle or a tube of something, it's often a bit of a trick. After the wrist breaks of last year, I found this old fashioned, low-tech tool and it now lives in a handy spot in my studio. It's a reminder that I need help and have help when I want leverage for opening things.
Honestly, I haven't used it often, because it's not daily that I need unscrew a stubborn cap, but it's a sweet insurance and a little symbol of self care. Update: After a few months with the jar opener, I will report that it is sometimes great, and sometimes not of much help! When I have a stubborn painty screw cap lid, sometimes I become embittered when the jar opener is not successful and what’s more, can strain my healing hands. At other times tho, it has solved the problem. So, better than nothing. I suppose it helps to keep the expectations low.

I have been playing with the realization of how Seamlessly expectations are built into my experiences. Actions and outcomes. Present moment, idea, and future reality. Repeat. Modify. Adjust. Refine. Silly idea, what did I expect? Terrific! Even better than I expected. Emotional attachments to a Particular outcome may concretize that I I am competent - Or not so much. Can I really manage expectations? Or is it actually managing outcomes? What’s the worst thing that could happen? I’d rather Imagine the best thing that could happen.
